I finally replaced my oven gloves. I have been try I finally replaced my oven gloves. I have been trying to extend the life of my old gloves for years [photo #2 as it is not very instagrammable].
.
I bought these ones perhaps 13 or 14 years ago. They are so worn out that they don't really protect from the heat anymore. I have been reluctant to replace them because these type of gloves are often padded with synthetic material (even if the fabric on the outside is cotton). So I don't know what to do with them. I am considering contacting one of those companies that take old fabrics to recycle/reuse them as filling or rags. Maybe they can take them.
.
Researching to buy a new pair I discovered that I could get oven gloves made from recycled material ♻️ which is really cool. However, I ended up buying these ones in the first photo from the second hand shop which is also a great choice 😉
.
One of the ways to help the environment is to use what we already own as much as we can before we replace it, because every single item that exists took resources to be manufactured (materials, electricity, water and so much more). And then after its lifespan, many of these items become waste in landfill polluting the environment for years.

I think famous Vivienne Westwood's quote applies well not only to clothes:

Several months ago, I adjusted my diet a bit and r Several months ago, I adjusted my diet a bit and returned to GF. I basically stopped eating bread because I don't like commercial GF bread that much and all of them come in plastic.
.
Last month, I experimented with this recipe from Michaela @elavegan using psyllium husks gel and I really liked the texture.
.
This is the third or fourth time that I prepare this bread. I have been making it as a batter instead of giving it a shape as the original recipe. Because I am not big fan of buckwheat flour flavour, this version has only 50 gr of that flour (instead of 100) and I used a bit of oats instead. The texture is a bit different, but it helps reduce the overpowering flavour of the buckwheats.
.
Just sharing it in case someone out there is looking for a good recipe for GF bread 🍞🥖

The other day I saw this felt board on my local @b The other day I saw this felt board on my local @buynothingproject Facebook group and asked if I could have it. Not only the lady happily gave it to me, she even brought it to my place. It is always so nice to see the kindness in these groups. If you are not part of one, check it out, there are many groups around the world.
.
I am going to use my new board to make a vision board. The beginning of the year is a perfect opportunity to do that. It has been several years since I made one.
.
It is supposed to be inspiring and nice, so I used some felt and jute string I had to make a small bunting. I think it looks pretty 🙂
.
A vision board usually covers goals and aspirations in different areas (health, family, social, creativity, travel etc). Perhaps I'll include some nice quotes too. I'll make sure I include a section for the environment 🌎 I think a photo of an electric car would be a great one to have there 🤔😉
.
Have you ever made a vision board?

Something I truly love is going for walks in natur Something I truly love is going for walks in nature. I am certainly not a pro when it comes to bushwalking/hiking but I just love to be surrounded but nature.
.
For me this activity serves so many purposes:
💚 Physical exercise
💚 Quiet time. Changing the noises of cars and everyday life for the sound of birds, wind, water streams.
💚 Be more present, I often find my mind wanders less when I am walking in nature.
💚 Appreciate and reconnect with what we are part of.
💚 Remember to be grateful for the possibility of walking and being alive.
💚 Help to clean the planet when we pick up rubbish.
💚 Breathe fresh air.
.
Last year, other than walks near my place, I didn't get to go for many walks in nature due to lockdown and in general all the situation.
.
One of my resolutions this year (if the pandemic permits) is to be more intentional about this activity. To have a list of places to go and to give it a priority. It is funny how sometimes we spend little time doing the things we truly enjoy.
.
Is time in nature part of your goals for the year?
.
The more we appreciate and reconnect with nature, the better the chances to heal our dear planet 🌎

Today the last day of 2020 while appreciating the Today the last day of 2020 while appreciating the calmness of the sea I was thinking about what year we have all had.
.
For most of us this has been a challenging one, however there are always things to be grateful. If you are here reading this post, like me you've made it to the end of the year which is already a privilege.
.
As 2020 comes to an end, let's think and reflect: What great/positive things have happened in our life this year?
.
Happy New Year everyone, despite the challenges, I wish 2021 brings many blessings to you all 💚
Since I watched the Social Dilemma I have been spe Since I watched the Social Dilemma I have been spending less time in all my social media accounts, I removed most apps from my phone and only check some of them when I use my computer which helps me to disconnect quite a bit.
.
This is not the first time I've consciously tried to change my habits around screentime, and every attempt has brought some level of change and awareness which is positive. Part of me loves feeling disconnected but at times part of me feels a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out). Overall, I feel I am happier and more relaxed using my phone and social media less...
.
The post below also touches in another aspect of our behaviors around the phone: doomscrolling. Bad news, "breaking news" (which these days are abundant) and lots of negative info enters our minds on regular basis. All that has an impact, it is about deciding what's the best for each of us.
.
A new year is starting soon, maybe perfect time for some of us to consider few resolutions around screen time. Any good strategies to share?

Does reaching for your phone feel like jumping into a shark-infested sea of bad news and Covid stats? Do you grab your phone to check a recipe and surface hours later, having read all the things, but not having cooked dinner? Do you walk around all day in a zombie-like state because there are too many feels to feel this year?

Doomscrolling is, unsurprisingly, the New Zealand word of the year for 2020. It’s hard to avoid, especially when Covid cases are spiking where your loved ones live, or when your travel plans are canned because of another lockdown. The scrolling won’t end when Covid does either - in 2019 we were doomscrolling about climate change and bushfires (remember that?). There’s a big difference between staying on top of the news and spending all day sprawled on the couch in a downward spiral over the state of things. The good news is that we do have the power to limit its negative effect on our lives. I’ve drawn a few of the ways that I’ve broken the spell. Let us know in the comments what strategies you’ve found helpful.
